Challenge Lab Bulgaria 2023: The winners!

 
Only two days of work to develop entrepreneurial ideas of teams within Challenge Lab Bulgaria 2023.

The first day of the hackathon started with an introduction to the participants, mentors and experts. 8 teams were formed and started looking for solutions to the following challenges:
  1. How can the Bulgarian government stimulate the development of circular food systems? - Sustain Chain and Cook Menu teams
  2. Offer innovative solutions to minimize food waste. - Team Unicorns
  3. Offer innovative solutions, technologies and initiatives to raise awareness about nutrition and healthy foods for children and parents. - Smart Grazing team
  4. Develop new technologies or products for crop protection and soil health. - Heaven Food and Bolyar teams
  5. Offer an innovative solution (IoT, software, robot) for the automation of a process directly related to the production of agricultural products. - RENTaTill team
  6. Propose initiatives and farming models to strengthen rural communities. - Team Rose Plant
  
   

During the second day, the teams' work with mentors and experts continued. In the shared workplace at the University of Economics - Varna, on the third day, the participants were able to finalize their presentations on innovative solutions and presented extremely interesting and inspiring solutions in the selected areas.

  
   

The evaluation criteria:

Relation of the solution to a real problem or challenge;
New to the market;
Realism and scalability of the business model;
Socio-economic and environmental impact.

The winners of this competition are also known:
 
First place and the prize of BGN 1,000 was won by the RENTaTILL team with mentor Konstantin Haralampiev (Agrovar SS OOD), who proposed an innovative solution (platform) to support the process of agricultural production.

  

The second place was awarded to the Sustain Chain team with mentor Jane Dimitrova (Foodobox), who presented a solution in the field of circular food chains - digital vouchers based on blockchain technology.

The ranking of the project ideas was carried out by a jury composed of: Ivaylo Todorov (executive director of the Association of Agricultural Producers in Bulgaria), Hristo Rafailov (regional director of Unicredit Bulbank), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mariyan Yanev (Department of "Agriculture and Herbology" ( Agricultural University - Plovdiv) and Prof. Dr. Evgeni Stanimirov (University of Economics - Varna).
