RAPIV welcomed the SIreNERGY project partners in Varna
Social innovations and sustainable energy solutions in focus during the final study visit
In the week (27-28 May 2025) Varna hosted the final study visit under project SIreNERGY – Social Innovation in Renewable Energies, financed by programme Interreg Europe. The event is organised by Regional Agency for Entrepreneurship and Innovations - Varna and gathered partners from Spain, Sweden, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria, nited by the common goal – the sustainable and socially responsible integration of renewable energy sources (RES) into regional policies.
Good practices from Bulgaria
The first day of the visit was dedicated to showcasing good Bulgarian practices through on-site visits to the municipalities of Beloslav and Aksakovo, as well as one of the largest wind farms in the country.
Municipality of Beloslav presented the implementation of several photovoltaic installations on public buildings and kindergartens, aimed at increasing energy efficiency and reducing the carbon footprint.
The projects were implemented with the support of the Rural Development Programme 2014–2020, sub-measure 7.2.
The installations include:
70 kW – Municipal Administration Building, Beloslav
30 kW – "Dora Gabe" Kindergarten, Ezerovo village
40 kW – "Nezabravka" Kindergarten, Strashimirovo village
30 kW – "First of june" Kindergarten, Beloslav

The Municipality of Aksakovo presented Good Practice No. 2: a hybrid system combining solar energy and hydrogen fuel cells in a municipal kindergarten – a model for sustainable and continuous energy support for public infrastructure.

Suvorovo Wind Farm – with a capacity of 60 MW, this large-scale private project was implemented with the financial support of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). The visit highlighted the importance of private investments in large-scale renewable energy infrastructure.
Seminar and Information Event: Ideas, Policies, and Future Projects
On the second day of the program, the partners took part in a seminar organized by APESA, focused on the analysis and assessment of the project's good practices, as well as in a special information event dedicated to social innovations and the energy transition.

The discussions and exchange of experience during the visit highlighted the importance of international cooperation, innovation, and the involvement of civil society in energy transition processes. The SIreNERGY project continues to promote the integration of social innovations into renewable energy policies and the sustainable development of regions.
