On 15 February 2026, the Talent Mentoring Programme under the STREAM IT – Gender Equality in STEAM Education project officially launched in Bulgaria, part of a European initiative aimed at promoting gender equality in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. It is specifically designed for girls aged 14 to 18 – young people who are eager to explore, create, and find their place in the world of innovation. The first introductory day took place in an atmosphere of inspiration, openness, and shared aspirations. The participants had the opportunity to get to know one another, talk about their interests, and take their first steps towards a deeper understanding of their own strengths. Through personal and career guidance tools, they explored the ways they learn, make decisions, and experience emotions, as well as how these characteristics can become an advantage when choosing a future profession. The discussion on values and personal motivation opened a conversation about what it means to discover one’s direction and sense of purpose in the professional world. The meeting also highlighted the wide range of opportunities offered by the STEAM fields. The discussion about the professions of the future went beyond traditional perceptions and demonstrated how broad and dynamic the fields of science and technology truly are. Global challenges such as climate change, the circular and blue economy, food security, and the role of artificial intelligence were explored – topics that require a new generation of prepared, thoughtful, and engaged young people. The STREAM IT Talent Mentoring Programme is designed as a long-term journey. It will provide participants with opportunities to work on practical projects, visit companies and research laboratories, and meet scientists and business experts. Throughout the programme, each girl will have the chance to explore a specific professional role and receive guidance for building confidence, skills, and a clear vision for the future. All participants who successfully complete the programme will receive a certificate and special awards!
